🩷 SIERRA 🩷

Sierra has been with me 5 weeks now and is the most beautiful, calm and loving girl. She’s been pretty settled from day one and seems to be finally forgetting her past life. I’m not sure exactly what happened to her but if you’re giving her treats you need to do it very slowly or she’ll cower down and won’t take them. She also flinches if you reach to stroke her quickly or move around quickly so everything needs to be slow and steady around her. Also, when she first arrived she used to wake up from what I think were bad dreams barking and lunging. It only happened a couple of times but when it did it was pretty scary. She’s not nasty at all though and hopefully it’s something that will never happen again now she’s getting used to being a spoilt Frenchie and forgetting her previous life.

She’s clearly had lots of puppies in her 4 years and if they look anything like her they’ll be utterly gorgeous and I’m sure they made the Greeders lots of money. She’s a beautiful grey girl with stunning eyes and really unusual white makings on her back and everyone that meets her comments how beautiful she is. All the puppies have left their mark and one seems to be piles. I’ve been struggling to find what suits her best and although she does very well on Natures Instinct raw all flavours she needs to have some James Wellbeloved small breed kibble with it as all raw she ends up with a bloody bottom that needs wiping. She loves her food and sits patiently waiting while you’re getting it ready. I feed her away from the others but not because she’s aggressive in any way but because she has no respect for the others bowls. If she finishes first she just bimbles over to help herself to everyone else’s. She’s been told by the resident dogs that’s not acceptable but foster sister Sybil will just let her have it.

She is very confident and I think she could be an only dog but she also happily shares a bed with my other foster Sybil. She’s also completely disinterested in the cats so safe to live with them too.

She’s enjoying her walks and is now up to approximately a mile. This is not a fast mile as she could do with losing some weight but this will come as she has more walks and gets fitter. She’s very playful around the house and does love a wrestle with all the other doggy residents in the afternoon so if she’s an only dog you’ll need to be prepared to entertain her yourself. She’s not able to climb the stairs or jump on the furniture but the sofa is her favourite place so you’ll have to lift her up until she’s fitter. She will snuggle for as many hours as you sit down for and also loves to follow you around the house when you finally do move. When I’m working from my desk at home she sits beside me with her head on my calf just to make sure I know she’s there.

She is a complete sun worshipper and on the rare sunny days we’ve had she loves to be in the garden chewing an antler and lazing in the sun. She hates and I mean hates the rain so house training is still on going. She will have to be carried outside if it’s raining and she’s also not keen on the dark so be prepared for more carrying. When the weather’s nice and the doors are open she takes herself into the garden so it’s really not going to take long for her to be completely clean once the better weather is here. She’s been clean every night but the first one so I’m sure it won’t take long. For rainy days she loves to be wherever you are and if she has to sleep on the floor she’d like to request a cosy bed please because they’re the best and she’s tried every different bed we have here.

She’s hasn’t been left completely alone at all but she’s been left with doggy company for 3 hours with no problems. She’s just pleased to see you when you get back and there’s lots of bum wiggles waiting for you. She sleeps downstairs in the kitchen with foster sister. They have a bed each but are often snuggled together when I get up in the morning. She has access to a crate but all the time but I’ve never seen her use it. If she had her way she’d prefer to stay on the sofa all night so if that’s something you’d allow she’ll know she’s in the perfect place.

She tolerates the car but doesn’t love it. She travels in the boot with everyone else and just calmly waits to be lifted in and out. She is getting better the more times she’s being taken out especially as each one means a walk and she’s enjoying them. She walks beautifully on a harness and long lead. She’s met lots of people including children and lots of dogs and loves them all. Sometimes she stops and looks back at them when they’ve gone past but she’s not full on and doesn’t jump up or chase them.

Sierra is just amazing. For a girl who’s clearly been used and abused she just loves all humans. I’m going to miss her climbing up for a stroke and a snuggle and her little chatty noise when she wants you to look at her. She’s just the best snuggle companion and my sofa will feel very empty without her 🥰
